we saw the lakers vs houston game last night down in l.a. it was a short, fun, and exhausting trip for me, paul, chel and t. cham and allan joined us to see the game as well.
well what can i say about watching the lakers? it is soooooooo much better than watching the warriors! the fans in l.a. had so much more energy...maybe because they had a superstar in their team unlike g.s. staples center is huge and there's so much going on inside and outside the stadium so there's a lot to do before and after the game.
some of the stars we saw other than the basketball stars were, of course, jack nicholson who sat not too far from us, tori spelling, penny marshall, and former governor gray davis. cham also saw zac efron and danielle fishel (topanga from boy meets world, remember her?) from their side of the court and allan said he saw catherine zeta-jones. i'm sure there were so many more stars out there on friday night but we just didn't recognize many of them.
it was exciting to see kobe and yao who were the only 2 players i was really familiar with. i almost forgot that phil jackson was the lakers coach until they flashed his picture on the giant overhead and it reminded me of watching my forever love, michael jordan and the bulls, win championship after championship back in the 90s. seeing the lakers reminded me of how much i love the game and i told myself i should watch more of it on tv. i'd love to take my dad and my brother (when he gets here) to see another game (live!) in the future. but the next time we go, we should make it a week long trip and make the most out of being down south.
after the game, we went back to our hotel and had drinks....actually, they had drinks since i was nursing a bad bad cold and the alcohol was not helping. my stuffy nose kept me up all night. i'm currently running on all the caffeine i consumed today so i can keep up with michelle and all of life's other demands.
pictures to be posted tomorrow. i'm dead tired and still have to make buko pie early tomorrow morning before church.
****
we got back earlier this morning and went straight to tselogs and it was packed. it was crazy! crazy but good!!! i told the crew that i have never seen the place so busy before. 95% of the tables were occupied during the lunch hour and i was there again from 430 to 8 pm and it was just as crazy! both times, there were people calling to pick up orders as well. it was awesome!!!

like a proud momma
i know tselogs is really chel's baby, but i can't help but feel proud when i read all the reviews the restaurant has been getting on yelp (read the reviews here). nakaka proud. kuya oliver is an amazing chef! yes i call him chef, he's brilliant! everyone is warm and friendly. masarap talaga ang food...and i'm not saying it just because it's my best friend's restaurant.
and of course you know about the buko pie!!!! =D

tselogs nation!
yesterday we went to the abs-cbn studio in redwood city so that chel can tape the segment that features tselogs. when we got to the studio, they were interviewing this tall, buff looking dude and the people in the studio were gawking at him. the guy is good looking but not my type. i was never really into bald guys. but even if he was 'my type' i'm not sure how thrilled my husband will be to read that. ;-) any hoot, i didn't know who this 'celebrity' was if he was indeed one. lai said, 'maybe he's some basketball player from the philippines?' it was only later on that evening that someone told us that the guy was brandon vera, the ufc champion. i've heard of his name before but i don't know how he looks like because i never watch ufc. the girlash in me refuses to watch something that seems so brutal(too strong of a word, please pardon my lack of a better adjective).

but on to tselogs nation....
i have never been to a taping of a talk show before. lai, chel and i watched the taping of will and grace years ago before the show won its first emmy and we saw the detail that is given to each episode. adobo nation is no exception. taping started promptly at 7 pm and we didn't leave until almost 9 pm...and this for a 60 min show were most of their features are taped before hand.
i must admit, i have never seen an episode of adobo nation before. my excuse is that my daughter and her noggin network dominate our tv sets at home...but i know about the show and have heard a lot of good things about it from people. it was very interesting and entertaining to watch these 3 smart and witty people interact with one another. jc, karmina, and jaja were also very nice and friendly.
so here is the evidence that we were at the show. i don't want to give too much of the episode away so you all can watch adobo nation in whatever part of the world you're living in. again, please watch adobo nation on sunday on tfc!

TSELOGS!
today is the day!!!
tselogs is open at 6055 Mission Street in Daly City between Evergreen and Templeton.
tselogs is the brain child of my best friend chel. i went there today and brought the whole family along to give our moral support. my parents are good cooks and are pretty hard to please when it comes to food. we ordered the chicken sisig (to die for!), embutido (with a very slight twist), bistek and kare kare. all of the dishes passed my parents taste buds with flying colors! they liked the food so much, we're bringing our relatives there next week to celebrate my mom's 58th birthday!
i'm not just saying all these good things about the restaurant because i want to support my best friend's business...i, too, am hard to please because i also cook. but I LOVE THIS PLACE! each customer will be treated with respect and courtesy and fed deliciously!
the story of tselogs is quite a tale. it is all based on faith in the goodness of the Lord and the love of family and friends. while this is chel's business, she has the support of everyone in her family, her closest friends, and our church. more than the business, i guess you have to get to know the owner and her relationship with the Lord to see what the restaurant is all about.
it wasn't too long ago that chel brought up the idea of putting up a restaurant. i was skeptic at first. chel does not cook! so i thought in my head, 'how in the world will she survive the restaurant business if she doesn't even know how to cook rice with a rice cooker!' but the Lord provides! whatever need it is, God fulfills! she needed a cook, she was blessed with 2 amazing cooks! she needed a good location, she was given a large space on mission street with a lot of foot traffic. she needed money, the Lord provided every single penny that went to the restaurant without the need for investors. so if you talk to chel, she will not take credit for any of it. and she shouldn't. tselogs was built by the Lord, entrusted to people whose faith knows no limits and whose vision knows no bounds. people like chel.
but the vision does not end with tselogs. chel is not in it for the sole purpose of making money. of course she wants the business to do well, but after this business takes off and starts making real money, she wants to put up a school in the philippines that offers the highest quality of education, free for deserving students who have the abilities but lack resources to pursue an education. every need of the child will be provided for: school supplies, lunches, you name it. now that i have seen what the Lord has done, i have no doubt that this vision will come to pass. if the restaurant was put up, then the Lord will build the school!
but right now, lets support tselogs. the address is 6055 Mission Street in Daly City between Evergreen and Templeton. You can call and order for pick up at 415-337-4670 or visit http://www.tselogs.com/
