food filled weekend

i love food! (hindi ba obvious?) hehe

i love going out to eat. it doesn't matter if it's in a hole in the wall like my all time favorite japanese restaurant Spiral or the most expensive restaurant i've ever been to, Gary Danko. food is like my drug. dining is an experience for me...it's always a celebration. i like eating out better than watching a movie (which we do alot and usually on opening day). i like sitting around the table with my closest friends and family and enjoying the blessings that are before us.

paul, tiray, and myself had an impromptu, late night [grown up] (grown up means minus our baby daughter) dinner at Calzone's in North Beach.

We arrived at the restaurant at around 9 pm and quickly found a tiny outdoor table. that's one of my complaints about this place...the outdoor tables are too small even for just 2 people, let alone 3. anyway, food was good (as always). we had the prosciutto calzone, mussels, eggplant bruschetta, and salmon with orzo. we enjoyed every bit of food we ate and had tiramisu and lemon torte zabaliogne for dessert. price wasn't bad, too and we were lucky to find street parking as soon as we arrived in the chinatown/north beach district.

saturday, my parents, paul, princess michelle and myself drove to davis to walk around the campus and again enjoy food at my all time favorite chinese restaurant, ding how.

this is another hole in the wall type of restaurant where prices are low but the food is great. i've been to shanghai 1930 where the prices are double, sometimes triple the price at ding how but the food is still not as good. the ambiance is of course different and that changes the price of the food they serve. you should have an idea how much i love the food at ding how because i'm willing to drive 80 miles, with the whole family in tow, just to have their shrimp with lobster sauce. yummmy!!!!!

and on sunday, i cooked a seafood feast for my dad and my husband to celebrate father's day. i cooked ginaataang alimasag (thai style) and buttered shrimp (my husband's favorite) and bought oysters from hog island oysters (we ate them raw). after dinner, halos pumutok na ang mga tiyan namin for eating all the food. everything was good (syempre kasi luto ko e!) and i thank the Lord for these men in my life who continue to exemplify the essence of fatherhood. =) i love you dad and beb!

my loves

diet update

no update!

hehehe since getting back from the philippines, i gained another 5 lbs due to lack of discipline. =(

i've lost that 5 lbs in about 2 weeks but have to lose at least 15 more in 3 months.

dapat sana 20 lbs pa ang i-lose ko but that would be pushing myself too far for my own sanity kaya tatawad ako ng 5 lbs!

bakit nga ba constant tong battle ko with weight?

no swimming for michelle tomorrow =(

we had originally planned to go swimming in sacramento tomorrow. of course, michelle was really excited to wear the bathing suit her ninang imee gave her even before she was born...but something came up and our friend had to reschedule the trip to her backyard pool. =(

i'm enjoying playing tennis on the wii too much. hehehe i'm not really good and i'm always inconsistent but the wii is truly the best video game console i have ever played!

i want to go to the beach soooooooooooooo bad but do not have a beach ready body just yet. just like playing wii, im also inconsistent about my diet and work out. =( waaaaaah!!!!

im starting to plan michelle's first birthday which wil be in 3 months.

i love my pwitty little pwincess!

i want to go on a cruise.

i want to take michelle to disneyland.

i love my husband.

i shouldn't have eaten even the little miki bihon that i had earlier.

i want to get a hair cut tomorrow but can't decide on which salon to go to. should i go for cheap or go for broke? hmm

i want to get a massage.

i don't want to spend too much money but it seems like all i think about is spending money. =(

like we want to get a bigger car...

and i've been thinking more and more and more and more and more about another house...

or at least getting the backyard fixed...

i love God and pray that i always remember this and give back to Him all the praise and the glory He deserves.

ito talaga ang mga pumapasok sa isip ko...sunod sunod.

blast from the past

i was looking at my friends' profiles on friendster when i suddenly felt homesick and miss my friends...all the friends that i spent time with...even people that i haven't spoken to in decades. it was as if i was brought back to the times i spent with those people.

i am blessed to have met such wonderful people in my life. some of them i no longer know where they are and how they are doing, but there are times like today that i think of them and pray that they are happy with their lives.

of all the friends that i miss, there is one person that i think about more often than others...

i've known robert castaneda since i was at least 10 years old (he was 11) and he became one of my good friends since then. he had his own quirks and behaviors that i don't always approved but robert and i had a mutual respect for each other. when i talked, he listened and vice versa. even when i moved to the states, he would make it a point to drop by the house to say hi and do a little bit of catching up. since he passed away, i've had at least 2 dreams about him and think about him a lot during my waking hours, too. i miss robert. i wish we could have talked more. i wish i could have shared my faith in the Lord with him. i wish i was there for him when he needed a friend. i wish i was there when he was hurt. i wish i could have told him that his friendship meant a lot to me and that he was very dear to me. now i can only think of him with mixed emotions. i really really miss him.
