that school girl feeling

i felt that again last night when chel, t, and i went to watch hugh jackman perform at the curran theater in san francisco.*sigh* i could not stop staring at him and telling myself over and over, 'ang guwapo naman nitong lalakeng to!' he was tall, much taller than he looked on tv or the moview...he can sing, he can dance, he kept his audience engaged and entertained the two hours that he performed (without an intermission!).

we scored good seats even though we bought the cheapest tickets (it pays to buy early) and got a good view of him.  unfortunately we couldn't take pictures, sayang!

he said he's shooting the new wolverine movie soon...it's going to be set in japan so they're waiting for things to settle down over there before they start filming.  so while he has some free time, he decided to do the one man show he's always wanted to do.  and san francisco was just the place to do it!

he's a very good singer but an even better actor.  kinikilig parin ako hanggang ngayon. hahaha!

i'm not the fanatic type.  the few celebrities that make me feel like this are michael jordan, hugh jackman, george clooney, and brad pitt.  san ko kaya hahuntingin si george at si brad?

sf ballet's the nutcracker

it was beautiful! the set was beautiful, the costumes were beautiful, the falling snow was beautiful...naluluha luha ako sa ganda kanina. i don't know much about ballet but i know the performance was not perfect, but wonderful nonetheless. it totally set the mood for christmas.

michelle really enjoyed the show, too. during the intermission while we were on our way to the ladies room, she kept dancing and twirling. natutuwa tuloy yung mga taong nakakakita sa kanya. it's like she had her own little world. but after the intermission and we went back to our seats, she began to lose interest. but she kept clapping when the crowd clapped sabay sabing, 'bravo!'. the music was really familiar to her too kasi she hears it a lot from episodes of little einsteins. after the show was over, she asked her dad, 'daddy, what was your favorite part of the show?' nang-interview pa.

here are some of our photos. we used our small, obsolete point and shoot kaya hindi masyado maganda ang pics.

wicked

on thursday night we went to see wicked at the orpheum theater in sf.
we wanted to have dinner prior to the show but i couldn't go because i didn't want to leave michelle for too long knowing she's not feeling 100%. claire couldn't go for dinner either so the plan was scrapped and we all just went to the show. (tipid pa!)

we got the cheapest seats but still managed to have a good view of the stage. orpheum is tiny so it doesn't really matter where you sit. i wouldn't have gone to see it if we couldn't get cheap seats anyway. (tipid again)

but on to the musical. 'twas great! i loved the actress/singer who played the role of elphaba. my goodness! what a voice!!!! personally, i think the relationship between glinda, elphaba, and fiyero's relationships could have been stronger...maybe it was in the novel from which the musical is based. i guess now i have to read it to find out. =) (yes, i have the book. bigay ng friend ko na si gracious. thanks, g!)

go see the musical. i truly enjoyed every minute of it!

london symphony orchestra

lai took me out on a date tonight to see/hear the london symphony orchestra at the davies symphony hall in the city.

i should have known that since this is lai taking me out, we were going to be late. so guess what time this girl picked me up for the show that starts at 7 pm? 635!!! it wasn't like they were performing next door! memories of our trip to disneyland ten years ago kept rushing back into my mind. i kept my cool back then (it was chel who got upset with lai), tonight, i told myself it was not the end of the world if we were late so i took it lightly...but i still had to tell her were going to be late. we were zooooooming through the freeway like thelma and louise and reached the venue with about 8 mins to spare. but we still had to find parking...we found a parking lot just a block away but they only take cash, so lai and i got out while the valet parked the car: i wait for the keys while lai runs to the atm machine across the street (in her dress and high heels). we pay the valet and make a mad dash to the hall... we were being applauded as we were being ushered to our seats (sikat!)...oh wait, the applause was for the conductor who was walking his way up to the podium. as soon as our bottoms hit the seat, the orchestra started to play. talk about perfect timing!

the performance was amazing. it was our first symphony and it wont be our last...especially if we get free tickets like we did today! hehe it was a great experience. you can feel the energy of the performers and the conductor. the music will really stir your emotions...there were parts when i was thinking, 'oooh, this would be background music for a really romantic scene in a movie' or 'this is when the lovers fight and break up' (hopeless romantic). the pieces performed were by sergei prokofiev. like you, i've never heard of him but judging by tonight's performance, he is one goooood composer.

after the show, we met up with t and chel at old siam thai for some good food and fried bananas with ice cream.

a perfect ending to a great evening.
