food filled weekend

i love food! (hindi ba obvious?) hehe

i love going out to eat. it doesn't matter if it's in a hole in the wall like my all time favorite japanese restaurant Spiral or the most expensive restaurant i've ever been to, Gary Danko. food is like my drug. dining is an experience for me...it's always a celebration. i like eating out better than watching a movie (which we do alot and usually on opening day). i like sitting around the table with my closest friends and family and enjoying the blessings that are before us.

paul, tiray, and myself had an impromptu, late night [grown up] (grown up means minus our baby daughter) dinner at Calzone's in North Beach.

We arrived at the restaurant at around 9 pm and quickly found a tiny outdoor table. that's one of my complaints about this place...the outdoor tables are too small even for just 2 people, let alone 3. anyway, food was good (as always). we had the prosciutto calzone, mussels, eggplant bruschetta, and salmon with orzo. we enjoyed every bit of food we ate and had tiramisu and lemon torte zabaliogne for dessert. price wasn't bad, too and we were lucky to find street parking as soon as we arrived in the chinatown/north beach district.

saturday, my parents, paul, princess michelle and myself drove to davis to walk around the campus and again enjoy food at my all time favorite chinese restaurant, ding how.

this is another hole in the wall type of restaurant where prices are low but the food is great. i've been to shanghai 1930 where the prices are double, sometimes triple the price at ding how but the food is still not as good. the ambiance is of course different and that changes the price of the food they serve. you should have an idea how much i love the food at ding how because i'm willing to drive 80 miles, with the whole family in tow, just to have their shrimp with lobster sauce. yummmy!!!!!

and on sunday, i cooked a seafood feast for my dad and my husband to celebrate father's day. i cooked ginaataang alimasag (thai style) and buttered shrimp (my husband's favorite) and bought oysters from hog island oysters (we ate them raw). after dinner, halos pumutok na ang mga tiyan namin for eating all the food. everything was good (syempre kasi luto ko e!) and i thank the Lord for these men in my life who continue to exemplify the essence of fatherhood. =) i love you dad and beb!
