california wildfires

San Francisco has been known for its foggy weather. But recently, our skies have been gray because of some 1,000 fires burning in Northern California. Winter and spring were unseasonably dry, hot and windy, fueling the fires that were caused by lightening strikes.

tough justice?

before you read this post, please read this article first.

i was sitting in the car from the gym today listening to christian talk radio when they were discussing this bit of news which i read at work kanina. sensitive na issue no?

for me, it is unthinkable to do something like this to a child. para sa akin, rape is the worst type of crime there is. may mga circumstances na nakakapatay ang tao by accident, or minsan intentional...pero ang rape, conscious effort yun na gawin sa isang tao e and to do it to a kid, someone so innocent? it is 100% violent, 100% cruel, and 100% evil.

so it bothered me that this is what the supreme court decided. i am FOR capital punishment lalo na't buhay ng inosenteng bata ang pinaguusapan. may mga victims of rape kanina sa radyo and it happened to them when they were young, pero kahit na they are now in their 40s and 50s, sabi nila, hindi parin nila makalimutan ang mga nangyari sa kanila. they said it's very had for them to trust anyone because of what happened to them. it has truly scarred them for life. how does one heal from something so atrocious???????

there was another caller, she said she was a victim of rape by her own biological father when she was young. up until recently, she would have nightmares and never ceases to look behind her shoulder, always suspicious of men around her. she said her nightmares ceased only after she heard of her father's passing. noon lang daw nya naramdaman yung kapayapaan na for 40 years ay naging mailap sa kanya. and she said na for those who survive rape, they are the ones who are living a death sentence everyday.

ito naman e opinyon ko lang. sa akin siguro, life sentence nalang for all other crimes, pero pag involved na ang rape, whether it is an adult at lalo na pag sa bata, death penalty na. hindi ko sinasabing wala na silang karapatang mabuhay no, pero wala rin silang karapatang sirain ang buhay, essentially take the lives and hopes and dreams and the peace sa buhay ng mga taong naging biktima nila. kung nakakulong sila habang buhay, oo nga at hindi na nila magagawa pa ulit ito, pero ang buwis na binabayaran ko, ang buwis na pinaghihirapang bayaran ng mga naging biktima ng rape ang patuloy na bumubuhay sa kanila. parang hindi yata makatarungan yon.

oh my gas!!!!

siguro nga wrong timing ang pagbili namin ng malaking sasakyan. back in october, when we bout the mdx, gas was hovering at around $3 pero gallon. ngayon, nasa $5 na!

masakit na talaga sa bulsa! i'm taking public transportation to work now. i spend about $30 for the bart (subway) a week, plus another $40 on gas a week running errands, dropping michelle off at day care, going to the gym, etc. that's $70/week on transportation.

ang full tank ng mdx when it's on empty is about $90 to $100. oh my gas!
